Hi There! It’s Lynda from Scrapbook with Lynda here to share some fun Christmas gift ideas with you this month. I’m excited to be a new member of the Fotobella’s Design Team, because I get to share some of my designs with you. Please stop by my blog where I share tips and techniques for scrapbook layouts, planners, and other paper crafting projects.
Graphic 45 Christmas Time
This month I’ll be working with the Graphic 45 Christmas Time I Want It All bundle. This bundle is available at Fotobella.com and it’s a great way to get the entire collection.
I’ll be using the G45 Christmas Time bundle all month to share some fun gift items you can make.
Decorated Gift Jar
Every year I like to give something I made to my friends and family at Christmas. This year I’ll be giving jars of dill pickled squash that I made over the summer.
Rather than putting it in a gift bag, I decided to decorate the jar. Won’t it look pretty sitting on the counter!
Of course this gift idea would work with anything you’ve canned, but you can also fill the jar with other yummy goodness. You can up-cycle any jar, then fill it with candy, coffee, cookies or other favorite treats.
Making the Gift Jar
The gift jar is easy to make. The hard part was picking which of all the beautiful images I wanted to use. I just love Graphic 45 paper!
Settled on Santa for this jar, but there are lots of other themes to pick from in the Graphic 45 Christmas Time collection.
Decorating the Lid
It’s the little touches that make a gift look special, so I was sure to decorate the lid as well as the jar.
First, I cut a circle of paper, then inserted it under the screw lid. I used a circle die to cut out Santa, but you can trace the lid and trim with scissors.
Add a Belly Band
Selected some border strips from the paper collection to use as a belly band around the gift jar.
All I had to do was cut out the strip, wrap it around the jar, then attach it with a glue dot.
Santa Embellishment
The seam on the belly band is covered with a DIY layered embellishment, which is super easy to make.
Cut the Santa from a sheet of paper in the collection and the red mat from the coordinating paper stack. Used a die to cut the square, but it can be cut with a paper trimmer. Layered the two with a piece of foam between them, which gives the embellishment some dimension.
Top Off the Gift with a Bow
Every gift needs a bow, so I decided to add a paper bow to the gift jar.
This bow is cut using a die, then pieced together. If you don’t have a bow die, then you can add a ribbon bow or just leave it off.
Hope you like my first project as a Fotobella Design Team member. Please stop back next week to see another gift you can make using the Graphic 45 Christmas Time bundle. And please stop by my blog at www.ScrapbookWithLynda.com to see more of my creations.
Happy Scrapping!
