Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m back today to share with you a single page layout featuring the gorgeous Simple Vintage Coastal collection by Simple Stories. These papers are stunning and they are filled with tropical images. With this collection, you can show off all of your beach vacation photos!
Personally, I love the color combination in this collection. The pink and aqua colors give the papers a vibrant and tropical touch. The lush green leaves and brighter green pages contrast well with the softer pink and aqua. In looking at the 12x12 collection kit, I thought of a beautiful photo I took on my birthday at sunset. The color of the sky is perfect for the papers, and I knew the Page Pieces would be perfect for embellishing my photo. Also, I knew the Foam Stickers would add dimension to my layout.
Layering the Layout
In order to achieve the look I wanted, I started with one of the ocean colored pages from the Basics Kit. Then, I layered torn pieces from “Let’s Get Lost” out of the 12x12 Collection Kit. These pieces are inked with pink distress ink so they will stand out and bring more pink to the layout. Next, I used texture paste and a stencil to add some texture to the background. Once dry, I added Nuvo Mousse in French Rose to the swirls.
The next step is to add the photo to the layout. I chose to mat my photo with the guava colored paper from the Basics Kit. Using this color helps my photo to stand out, but also ties into the overall color scheme of the layout. Then, I used most of the pieces from the Page Pieces pack to embellish the bottom of my photo. I also added the word “Escape” to the top of the layout. Finally, I used some of the foam stickers to give dimension to the layout. And, to finish off the layout, I added three decorative brads to the bottom of the photo.
