Hi everyone. Laurie here with another fun design team project using the Celebrating Freedom I Want It All bundle by Bo Bunny. This is a quick and easy project that you can put together in just a short time.

Patriotic Card Folio

Start With The Basics

First, I used a Bo Bunny chipboard piece for the folio cover. I used two pieces 4 3/4” x 6 1/4” for the cover and one piece 1 1/4” x 6 1/4” for the spine. Next, cut 2 pieces of cardstock 8 1/4” x 12” and glue together to form one long piece.

Next. center the spine chipboard over the seam and glue, making sure it is centered top to bottom, as well leaving 1-inch above and below. Glue the cover pieces (one on either side of the spine) leaving a 1/4-inch gap next to the spine. Then, trim off the ends of the cardstock leaving a 1-inch strip along the ends of the chipboard. Miter the corners and fold the cardstock over the chipboard and glue. Now, cut a piece of cardstock 6 inches long and wide enough to cover the spine and leave about 1 1/2-inches onto the cover.

Add the Pockets

Each of the pockets in the folio holds eight regular sized greeting cards. Start by cutting 2 pieces of Bo Bunny cardstock 7” x 4 3/8”. With the 7 inch side along the top of your score pad, score at 1/2”, 1 1/8”, 5 7/8”, and 6 1/2”. Turn the cardstock so the 4 3/8” side is along the top of the score pad and score at 1/4”, 3 1/4, and 3 7/8”.

Folio Pocket

Trim off the top 2 narrowed scored section along each side and miter the edges of the 1/4” scored section. Burnish the score line and glue this small flap down to the inside of the pocket as extra protection for the pocket edge. Trim off the outer 3 sections of the lower corners as shown, leaving one section on each side to use as a joining piece. Burnish all the score marks and miter the corners.

Make the Bo Bunny Patterned Paper POP!

I added the white mats to show the different scored sections but also because it makes the patterned Bo Bunny Celebrating Freedom paper stand out better when it is added to the pocket sections.

Matted Pocket

I found it easiest to mat the pockets before adding them to the folio.

First, fold along the inner score marks to form the pocket. The outer 1/2-inch sections will be used to attach the pocket. Fold the sections in so they are straight and add a dab of glue to join the small sections on the sides to the inside of the bottom flap. This will form a box. I glued the corners of the 1/2-inch flaps to make it easier to attach to the cover.

Assembled Pocket

Next, glue the pockets to each of the inside covers even with the bottom and outside edges. Cut a mat 4 5/8” x 5 3/4”. And, add a piece of patterned paper 4 3/8” x 5” (it will be in the pocket) and glue the mat down inside the pocket and about 1/8-inch down from the top of the cover.

Left Inside Cover

I added a piece of the Bo Bunny Celebrating Freedom sticker border across the center of each pocket. Next I used a mat 1 1/8” x 6 1/8” of white with patterned paper added to the spine section. Then, I repeated everything for the Right Inside Cover. Then, I added 8 cards that I made using the fabulous cut aparts included in the Bo Bunny paper collection.

The Bo Bunny Finishing Touch

To decorate the front of the folio, I used a piece from the ephemera pack, layered onto white and navy cardstock. I added 4 stars from the sticker collection to each corner. Next, I used the striped and word papers with a strip of washi tape to join them. Also, I used some ribbon from my stash to make a tie to close the folio. Along the spine, I added dimensional stars that are also included in the IWIA bundle.

The Cover

Last, But Not Least

I kept the cards simple, just using cut aparts, stickers, some of the ephemera pieces and a little bit of washi tape.

What I love most about this collection is that it works for more than just the 4th of July. Memorial Day is coming up and what a fabulous way to honor our active and retired military. I have friends and relatives who are or have served in the military and plan to send them a card to let them know that I truly appreciate their service.

Hopefully this project inspires you to do the same.
