It’s Diane here again and I have a new design team project share for you. I have used the beautiful Frozen Roses Collection by Ciao Bella for a special art journal page. Unfortunately, I am new to mix media and I have a few products and decided to experiment with them. Be sure to watch my video share below to find out what I learned during the creative process.
My art journal is a book I got from a 2nd hand store. The pages measure about 8 1/2 x 8 1/2. I glued three Ciao Bella pages together, added some washi tape in the center crease of the page and primed my pages with gesso. Next, I fussy cut different images from the Frozen Roses rice paper. I laid them out but did not glue them yet. I then decided to add scraps of the designer paper here and there. Next I took a rose stencil by Tim Holtz and modeling paste and stenciled the roses onto my page. In the future I think I will glue my rice papers down first before I stencil. This will help keep my rice papers smooth to the page.
Once everything was dry, I then decided to add some color. Using watercolor,s I added pink and green to the stenciled roses. Adding a little color and the blotting with a paper towel, adding a little more color and blotting it again, until the desired look. Then, I added some lovely lace to my page, along with some Nuvo crystal drops, “morning dew”, a few rhinestones and Cosmic Shimmer glitter, “frosted sparkle”. I just had fun with it added different textures and elements.
