Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m here today to share my Pink Christmas journal with all of you. As soon as I saw the color palette of this paper collection by Stamperia, I knew I wanted to make something unique. I love shabby chic projects, and the Pink Christmas collection is perfect for this style!
Although small, the 6” x 6” Pink Christmas papers have all of the beauty of their larger 8” x 8” and 12” x 12” counterparts. However, the smaller papers often seem more challenging to use on projects. While the 12” papers are perfect for scrapbook layouts, the smaller sizes (8” and 6”) are better for making mini albums, card-making, and even journals. After seeing the variety of cut-apart images in the paper pad, I think they will make perfect journal ephemera.
Creating Journal Ephemera Using Pink Christmas
I love the non-traditional pink color scheme. Therefore, I want the classic and beautiful images on the papers to tell the story throughout the pages of my journal. The base pages are made out of plain copy paper dyed using pink Distress Oxide Ink and water. These white and pink pages will coordinate with my Pink Christmas papers but not takes away from the images.
First, I took the time to fussy cut the images from the papers. There are several cut-apart cards and journaling cards in the Pink Christmas paper pad, too. This step can be time-consuming, but I find it easier to cut everything out before assembling anything.
Once my journal pages are in a signature, I simply went through adding tuck spots, belly bands with journaling cards, and pockets using the decorative papers. Then, I also made sure to add bits of lace throughout the pages and ephemera. For a shabby chic project, I find that lace really gives a whimsical feel and adds texture.
Journal Cover and Ephemera Inside
This journal has a soft cover made from two layers of cardstock with lace trim between the layers. Then, it is covered with a layer of lace. Finally, two of the Pink Christmas chipboard pieces decorate the front. The journal is held closed with a satin pink ribbon.
The fun part of journal-making is that the opportunities for making ephemera are endless! Anything goes so it can be fun to experiment. In my journal, I have made several tags using a mint colored tag base. Also, I have taken the journaling cards from the Pink Christmas papers and turned them into tags with bits of lace attached to them.
